With reference to your letter of the 19th. the honor to forward

June last, I have

to you by desire of the Major Soneral Commanding and for the purpose of being laid before His

Excellency the Governor the enclosed letter

s from Major Aldrich, Commanding Royal Engineer selling forth the rates of pay at which it is : proposed. the Engineer Officers and other persons

under his command should be remunerated for extra work performed in the service of the Colony . I am desired to add that the Major General considers these rates customary and reasonable and will be happy, if this meets the Governor's approval, to sanction the
